EVA Air Boeing 747-45EM taking off from runway 36L at Amsterdam- Schiphol, Netherlands .

The distance to the fence was 145 meters(475ft)... Yikes!
I wonder if anyone computed the take-off distance prior to the trip?
This is an amazing picture of a disaster that didn't happen. From the smallest airplane to the largest, weight & balance calculations are a critical part of flight safety. From the looks
of this 747, the weight was within the CG envelope, but if they'd have added one more 'marshmallow' to each snack tray, this BIRD might not have cleared the fence !!!!
What an outstanding PIX. Im sure the Capt. Did not intend anyone getting this
..
This is a "must see" image; right-clicking the image only produced a "file", and a HTML image, but no jpeg; My question; "WTF"?
Anyone have any ideas how to get a jpeg file ? If I can, I'll repost it.

Looks scarier than it really was. Still an interesting shot.

Don't know why, but always seem to have troubles uploading to UHH late in the pm/early pm.

That's the time of day the computer does not want to work - it wants to lay in a hammock under a shade tree with a big iced tea ;)
Busted - I feel like I was just given a new toy. Many thanks for introducing me to pprune.
If you'd like to see the real thing, google "SXM Airport"
on St. Maarten, and check out the YouTube videos. Better yet, go there and have a drink on the Beach while watching the landings, that place is just gorgeous. My sister spends a great deal of the year living on neighboring Anguila, an increadibly beautiful place, and flies in and out of that place pretty regularly.
