I just received my new 6 D this last week. I have been using a 7D for the past six years. I am amazed at how much better the image quality is with the 6D. The 7D has always performed well for me. I never realized how much difference a full-frame sensor makes until I started processing my pictures from the 6D in LR5 & PSCC. Wow!
PP is also much easier with the images from the 6 D, because there is not as much that has to be tweaked. I am fairly certain that has to be due to the difference between full and crop frame sensors.

The Canon 6D represents a step-up in image resolution as well as in other ways.

I own and use the Canon 6D with superb results.

Enjoy.

This was one of the many reviews I read prior to purchase.
I will probably never use the GPs and wi-Fi modes again, they really suck the juice from the battery. These were two of the reasons I chose the 6D over the 5D. I really don't like how long it takes to work the camera up after it powers itself off. The plastic LCD screen is also a downside, which I was aware of.
All around it is still a great camera! I love it!
BTW the GPs does not work reliably as well as being a power hog.

I have a 5d Mark II and had to send it in for service. I got the 6D in the meantime and the quality of images is even better than my 5D!! The 6d will be my main camera and the 5d will be my backup and used for exterior shots of real estate that I photograph. That way I won't have to change lenses from wide angle for interior to my 24-70mm for outdoor.

The only complaint I have with my 6D is the 11 point focus system. For that reason I have been considering going to a 5D mk III. If I didn't shoot sports or BIF it would not be a problem. It is a very nice FF camera and takes great photos. For the money, if you want or need a FF, it is hard to beat!

I own the 6D and use the WIFI occasionally between my cell phone and the camera. It works really great once you figure out the log in procedure. I take photos in real time, WIFI to my phone through the EOS Remote App and either save the photos to the phone or send them real-time via email. The EOS Remote App also will allow you to use your phone as a remote. You can set up the camera, back off and take photos; it has a button for focus, one for shutter and you can see what the lens is seeing. It is pretty cool to be able to operate the camera this way. The photos from the camera are amazing and it is for sure a step up from the 7D although it does not match FPS the 7D has.
The battery draw is if you leave it on. You must turn off the WIFI and or GPS if using that because the camera is searching even with it off.

Which app do you use, I think I saw three different ones. Tried one but gave up on it because of everything it took to set it up. Was a real pain!

PBS, I just got my new 6D on Friday. I agree with you, the sharpness of the shots is amazing. I have only taken a few shots around the house, but I really love it. I haven't tried the wifi yet but I will give it a try. Good luck with your new camera.

I also have a Canon 6D and I noticed a big jump in quality over my Canon 60D.

If your phone is Android I might suggest that you go to Play Store and download DSLR Controller. You can then make all changes on your camera except zoom the lens - total control, it's all there. I think the cost of the app is about $8.00. If you like using your phone for that, you might enjoy a 10 inch tablet computer much more and everything will be the same. EOS Remote is very primitive when compared to DSLR Controller. If you really want to take advantage of the remote capability and get some distance away from your camera on a tripod overlooking a changing subject, you can get a remote control tripod head that lets you take your camera 360 degrees and scan up and down so you can refocus on whatever is going on around you minus zoom, of course. Check Amazon for power tripod heads. If you want urls and other information in detail go here: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-209218-1.html. It opens up many new possibilities and can even reduce the necessity to buy a 600mm lens because you can set a prime 50 f/1.8 or even a macro lens close to a where you know a subject is going to be.

EDIT: There are iPhone/Pad options also available.

I bought the 6D for a back up camera to my 7D, which I really love. Now I'm using my 6D as a primary camera and my 7D as backup, or second camera during a wedding. Can't wait to see the 7D "Mii". Anyone heard more about it?

Has anyone had experience with the 70D and the 6D? How do they compare?
