Open letter to President Obama (Part 446) Comparison of crime data and concealed carry gun laws between Houston and Chicago (includes funny gun control posters

(Emailed to White House on 3-20-13.)

President Obama c/o The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Dear Mr. President,

I know that you receive 20,000 letters a day and that you actually read 10 of them every day, however, I think you should throw all of them away and just read mine.

March 20, 2013 by Dan Mitchell

In a presumably futile effort to change their minds by learning how they think, I periodically try to figure out the left-wing mind.

Why, for instance, do some people believe in Keynesian economics, when it is premised on the fanciful notion that you can increase “spending power” by taking money out of the economy’s left pocket and putting it in the economy’s right pocket?

I actually think part of the problem is that folks on the left focus on how income is spent rather than how it’s earned, so I sometimes try to get them to understand that economic growth occurs when we produce more rather than consume more. My hope is that they’ll better understand how the economy works if they look at the issue from this perspective.

But I’m getting off track. I don’t want to get too serious because the purpose of this post is to share this satirical look at the how leftists rationalize their anti-gun biases.

Let’s take a look at two cities that are quite similar in terms of demographics and income. But they have very different murder rates. Your job is to pretend you’re a leftist and come up with an explanation.

Houston Chicago Guns Weather

To be fair, we can’t rule out cold weather as a possible explanation given this limited set of data.

But remember the serious point. If you’re a bad guy and know that a potential victim is sure to be unarmed, does that make you happy or sad?

I realize that an anti-gun zealot will respond by arguing that they want a world where the thugs and crooks also will be disarmed, but how likely is it that such people will turn in their weapons? In any event, most criminals are young men and potential victims need guns to compensate for the inability to match the physical strength of their attackers.

Next let’s look at a poster showing the kind of instructions that statists such as Mayor Bloomberg should post in public places.........

Attention all criminals; I'm Mayor Michael Bloomberg; I'm a billionaire; because I'm very rich, I have a lot of power;
The establishment that you are about to enter is a designated gun-free zone; if you have a gun, you must leave it at home, or else leave it in your car; if you don't have a car, you can probably hide it in a bush, or in some tall grass out back. What ever you do with it, DO NOT bring your gun into this establishment. If you do, you will be arrested, thrown into jail, and later on, taken to prison; we have some very mean people in our prisons, so you do NOT want to go there!

These clowns expect us to have blind faith in the ability of public authorities, but the odds of a cop being immediately available when trouble strikes are almost nonexistent.

Here’s a poster that captures the blind naiveté of anti-gun activists. I don’t think I need to add any commentary........

"I really feel safer in gun-free zones because criminals are not allowed to use guns in them; that's how it works, isn't it?"

Last but not least, here’s a sign that all anti-gun leftists – assuming they have the courage to publicly celebrate their beliefs – should post outside their homes.

"The people in this home are unarmed; please don't hurt us."

You bet, we absolutely must all carry guns so we can protect ourselves in case someone in a theater throws popcorn at us, or plays their music too loud at a gas station, or so my 4 year old can find it lying around the house and accidentally shoot grandpa. Also, let's make it absurdly easy to buy a gun, so in case I forget to take my medicine and get pissed off at someone, I can just go buy a pistol and loads of ammo and kill everyone on sight.

Most left it's are not against the right to own a gun, but we are for at least starting the process of reasonable gun control laws. Don't worry, you'll probably always be able to carry your pistol into the local Wendy's. Hopefully, you are the type who can control your temper in case I accidentally bump into you and spill a drink.

Well, you can have your reality. I want no part of it. I am very happy with mine.

I can't say that I'm happy with the Liberal Outreach Program.
It costs me too much with nothing to show for it.

The clowns are the men who have to open carry assault rifles into stores and restaurants. They're being kicked out everyday. Nobody wants to spend money to eat looking at these boy-men who would be scared to death and wouldn't know what to do if another nut began shooting.

There are too many guns, too many people hurting or killing themselves and others every single day. "Responsible gun owners!" Yeah. I've read on UHH where gun owners feel that owning a gun is their "god-given" right. It isn't, even I know that and I don't believe in any god.

This guy is another wacko.

#1. Like all liberals, you're not only grossly exaggerating, you're outright NOT telling the truth!

Show me were ANY responsible person (right OR left ) has ever suggested that citizens carrying gun for self-defense should shoot people for ANY of the reasons you've mentioned; and show me where the NRA has EVER advocated people should "leave guns lying around".

Quote; "we are for at least starting the process of "reasonable" gun control laws".

#2. Oh no you're not! I haven't met you, I don't know you, and I don't know anyone who does know you, so I really can't say with any degree of certainty, exactly what you "think".......but the mere fact that you identify yourself as a "leftie" suggests to me that anything containing the word "reasonable" is not even in your vocabulary, as far as "gun control" is concerned!

Quote; "Hopefully, you are the type who can control your temper in case I accidentally bump into you and spill a drink.

#3. You're in luck! So far, after more than 40 years of travel in all "lower 48", and after having to "put up with" a very long list of "in your face" types, (and with much of that time having a weapon "available" ), the worst that has ever happened "so far" is a few dislocated fingers and a few teeth missing; on one occasion that I did have the need to shoot someone, he very wisely "re-thought his position" when he realized what was pointing at his chest. ( And a very nice Sheriff's Deputy "finished handling" that situation for me. )
( Just one more of thousands of "situations" in which a gun in the right hands made the situation "better" as opposed to "worse". )

What you "left it's" don't seem to be able to comprehend is, we already HAVE "reasonable" gun-control laws; what we LACK, is more criminals "obeying" those laws!

And the REAL "clowns" are the pitiful old women who sit around on their fat patooties and RANT about "assault" rifles and other things that they have absolutely NO CLUE about!

Every time I see those purple flowers (which is always every time I make a post, BTW ), I'm always reminded of that old, old axiom which says, "fool's name's, like their face's, are always seen in public places"!

Isn't it a shame that "some people" NEVER have a thought, an idea, or even start a conversation of their own, but can ALWAYS be counted on to "urinate & complain" about EVERYTHING anyone they don't like or they disagree with "does"? (you can return to your "Brief History of Socialism & Moral Decay" now, troll woman. )

Now I'm fat???????????? You are just hilarious, Gitzy. Remember, I'm younger than you and always will be. :) Oh, and those flowers are pink, you really must get your eyes checked. I would have thought that truck drivers took better care of their eyes. No, guess truck drivers don't care. hahahahahahaha

It's midnight where I am, so I will take the time to respond to only one of your remarks - #1.... You say I am not telling the truth....hmmmmm...Dade City, Florida, I believe it was....February this year, I think I remember.....an argument in a theater, popcorn flew, and a man was shot and killed by a retired policeman " defending himself - wow, good thing he had a gun.

Sir, I am no liar. You. However, apparently don't read the news.

Lucky you, I have more time now, so I will continue with #1 above. If you read very carefully, and I assume you are capable of that, you will notice that I never once said the NRA advocates leaving guns around - not once! But if you are able use the internet at all, and google search for stories about young children who have managed to get their hands on REAL guns that were accessible in their homes or a house they were visiting, and then managed to actually shoot this gun that was left loaded and KILL someone, by golly, you'll find quite a few of these stories. Whether the NRA "advocates" this or not, there are idiots out there who DO leave guns lying around....so once again, I am neither lying or exaggerating.

And as for "reasonable" laws already exist.....wow, you are sure right on that one. It is really reasonable that people with diagnosed mental disorders are able to buy guns because of slack background checks. But here's the BEST "reasonable" law: two months ago, I walked into a gun show, bought two pistols with cash, and no one asked me anything....no checks, nothing. Yeah, that's really reasonable. Does it surprise you that I own guns? Yes, I do, but I would welcome a law that at least made sure I was not a mental patient before I bought one!

As for the spilled drink.....what do you think was the incident that led to Aeron Hernandez killing two men with a gun he happened to have with him when he lost his temper? Read the news, man, before you accuse me of lying.

So as I said before, I prefer my reality over yours and now I prefer my "reason" over yours.
