I have 2 minolta and the German Gossen combined flash and daylight meters. strange thing is, they all agree. Also (saying proudly) my home made flash counter. Did you know that the Nikon on high speed flash (1/1000) flashes 9 times. But very poor intensity. It also ignores the preflash. Did you know that the Nikon on normal fires 2 flashes at a normal distance but 3 flashes close up.

Upgrading old boy.The first Minolta required an expensive battery. 6 volt silver oxide, compared to the new one that takes 1 AA.The Gossen go`s without saying.

May for the same reason that mariners traditional took either one or three chono.eters on a voyage. But NEVER two.
