Were on the Isle of Skye (Scotland) last fall on the water right near Dunvegan Castle. While we were on land everyone else saw the seals on the little islands/rock piles. Me - not so much. Not at all actually.
Then I went out in a rowboat with a motor and found out what my problem was.
I took lots of shots with my 55-300 zoom with the camera set on automatic. Unfortunately most of them were very over-exposed. I figured out that I had forgotten to "zero out" my exposure compensation dial. Guess what I never did again!

Thank you all for the nice comments. Iwas thrilled when I finally saw this decent shot in the midst of all my accidentally over exposed ones.

I've been doing bracketed exposures then switched to Panoramas while forgetting to turn off bracketing! Ruined a potentially beautiful shot of hills covered in grape vines in Santa Ynez.
I guess I have to go back for another wine tour....
