By "+10 magnifying filter", I assume you mean a magnifying, screw-on lens, using the filter threads on your camera lens.

This most likely refers to an additional single element (sometimes double element) lens, used to radically shorten Working Distance (WD) for macro-photography. Focusing at any distance more than a few feet is impossible with such a lens.

I know of such lenses labeled as +1, +2, etc., and stacking is possible, but not recommended. This add-on lenses are usually sold in a set of three or four different magnification powers.

I bought a set of macro lens that screw on to the filter threads. the quality is so bad I wouldn't recomend them. If you want a longer telephoto a 1.4X or 2X teleconverter would work. I use a 2X teleconverter with a Sigma 150-500 telephoto lens..Doug

Yes, the Sigma is a great lens but I spent my allowance for the next year on it. As I said I use a teleconverter with this lens and a small telescope. With my TC and the Sigma you really need a good tripod and a remote shutter release doesn't hurt. Doug

A dioptre lens with a zoom will usually be awful. They're often OK with primes at modest apertures, but a +10 is marginal even with the best primes.

In other words, preferably, don't.

Cheers,
