Hello, from Alalska

Hi, all. Just joined this forum, and find it interesting. Seems there's lots of good infer for all levels. I am purely an amateur at this. I just like to take good pictures. Currently I use a Nikon D90 and a Panasonic Lumix FZ200. Still learning to use both.

Ok, so here goes. First, I live in Wasilla, Alaska, in the Matanusks-Susitna Valley, about 40 miles northwest of Anchorage. Second, the shot is of my 16 year old grandson proudly displaying a nice salmon he just landed. The photo would be more spectacular, but it was raining at the time, and I used the camera in my IPhone. I know, an IPhone isn't a real camera, but it works in a pinch.

Great Picture, and welcome neighbor, we're in Eagle River. Also, you realize that he was kidding you, don't you? When I joined, I was told I had to provide the margarita's and beer. :D

I'm a former Alaskan and really miss it, but too old to put up with the winters anymore...
Ah yas, Wasill was the last place my folks lived. I lived in Anchorage, Moses Pt ( up by Nome) ,Homer, and Annette Island...
On ya, my very first Salmon was caught on Annette and weighted a very whopping 36 lbs, 14 oz....

Oh yeah, I got the "tongue in cheek" thing there. I like the margarita's & beer thing, though.

My earliest memories are of Whittier, AK where my Dad was stationed as a young Army Officer and I was a wee tyke.

Welcome. Alaska is a great place! We've vacationed up there a few times and always come back with great memories and photos.
