I can't remember if this is a Lacewing larva or something else. I know I've seen Tom's pictures of this critter posted here. I tried to shoot one last year but the focal plane on my capture left a lot to be desired. When I saw this one today I remembered how hard it was to get good DoF and set aperture to f16. Results are much better then last's year's attempt. 5D-III, Sigma 105, 430EXII, DIY Diffuser.
I am sure that this is a caterpillar. I see a few reddish, leggy parasites on this critter, some on the cornflakes, some below, especially image #4.
I saw the reddish critters when I was processing the files. I didn't notice them when I was shooting. Wish I had as I would have collected the subject and taken a look under the microscope.
Geometrid Moths is a wide category. Basically, all inchworms, aka loopers, measuringworms, spamworms, are geometrid cats.

Thank you Pam. Do you shoot macro or just a passing interest?

Practice is the key.. You'll get there if you keep at it. What lens are you using and how are you illuminating your shots?

I plan to keep practicing.
I have a Canon 5D mark all with the Canon 100 mm lens. And, I have Nikon D 5100 with a Sigma 105 mm lens.
I use a ring light for illuminating.
Thank you Douglass. A good looking moth. Next time I may collect it and see if I can rear it to adult stage.
If my brain was organized I would have remembered your post. Thanks for the reminder.
