My camera just stopped working? When the power is on I only see an Err (error message) in the view finder? I thought it was just because of a low battery, so I've charged my batterys (I have two) and the same error code? So I narrowed it down to camera issue. I've had this Nikon for almost 2 years and simple enjoy working with it. Help! :-(

Did you try removing the lens?

Try Goggling the error code to see what they say. Then call Nikon and see what they say. My Canon did the same thing and I've had to take it in for repair twice now for the same error code. But I think they've resolved my issue. Good Luck

Time to call Nikon (After the Holiday if you are in the US)

Try reset the camera. You can google how it is done. I would try that before sending it away for service

From Nikon: "The D3200 does not have a 2-button reset option. You need to choose the reset options in the Shooting Menu and the Setup Menu."

So if he can't get the camera to display the "menus" when it is turned on, he will have to send it to Nikon.

After installing a Fully charged fresh battery, install a lens and a fresh memory card. If you still get the "err" code you must consult Nikon repair facility...best of luck!

What lens do you have on the camera. If the lens has an aperture ring, make sure it is locked at f/16 or what ever the largest number is. Err is not always catastrophic. Also check your settings. when in doubt, press the 2 buttons that have the little green dot next to them ( hard reset on camera).

A common recommendation here is to use Q-Tips and alcohol to clean the camera and lens contact points.

Usually I get ERR on my D90 when I don't have an SD card in the camera. Make sure you have one.
