Hello to all Hhogs. It was back in circa 1947 that I had become acquainted with photography. I had found a few small white enamel trays with a red colored ridge at the top, and a small frame with a glass front with a couple of spring clips on the back, which my father had stored away. To summarize it was like a picture frame that you remove the back from so you can insert a picture. In this case it was so you could put a negative and a sheet of light sensitive photographic paper in to expose it to light for a certain length of time. The paper was then processed in chemicals to produce the positive from the negative. There were also some negatives, so I asked my father to show me how to make the prints.
So over the years I have had a full blown colored processing darkroom at one time, and several cameras. I consider myself as just an intermediate amateur, although at one time I was doing weddings, and children photo shoots.
Currently I have a Canon 30D which I use for pleasure. I have been interested in the Canon 7D, but have been waiting to see what will succeed it.
I have uploaded a photo of some of my camera equipment over the years. A couple have been collected items.

OMG.,......that looks like my dad's stuff. He taught me on an old plate camera....and I had to learn to develop, burn, dodge, print, color in oils and even had to take my own Senior Pics. then I graduated to an old Pentax he didn't like. From there to here sounds so much like your. wow...... Where's South Hill?? Is that the little town up by Puyallup??
OMG! What a collection. What is your address so I can send Guiddo over to make you a deal you can't refuse on the view camera.
Welcome to the forum. Nice array of equipment. Do you, by any chance, remember the "YES" camera (from Kodak, I think). That was my first foray into photography at age 10.

Welcome to the UHH. Nice collection.
Yes, I remember when photography was more of a hands on hobby or profession. Diving into chemicals, working under red light conditions, dodging and burning, and working with oils to color the black and white photo's.
South Hill is just south of Puyallup by perhaps 6 miles.
I am glad you have memories of your father and the way it was.
I was not familiar with the YES camera, but I found this site, which was imformative:

Hola from Bob in Tacoma... :-)
Welcome to the hog. Is that the south hill in Spokane? I'm west and north of there at the same elevation as all the tv towers on the south hill.

Well, what a coincidence.....just drove right by there 3 days in a row for dog shows at the Fairgrounds. Was there at 7am this morning....last day. Brrr... (By the way, I hear you guys are supposed to get 7 inches of snow tonight. Glad it's you and not us) Now it's 4 dog show days in Portland starting 19Jan.
Some of the memories about photography and my dad are VERY vivid. Especially those of my "homework"....wood, barn wood, tree wood/bark, DEPTH OF FIELD. Ah yes....the darned soupcans lined up. God, I do NOT miss the lessons. But what he taught me I will value till I die.
Years ago we had Chihuahua's. Then a few other dogs, and then a Collie, and a very intelligent German Shepherd. After having to put them down, I decided I couldn't have another dog.
Recently, for some unknown reason, I have been thinking about a Jack Russell Terrier or a German Shepherd. But I have stronger feeling that I shouldn't have another dog.
Get some good pictures and bring them to the site.
Nice collection! How is the snow in your neighborhood?
