Nice Mike. Are using a "noise" software with these ?

Looks like a female Ruby-throated and a beautifully posed one at that. Lovely shots, Mike. I think we have one nesting in our yard, but I'd never be able to find a nest the size of a thimble. ;-)

Well done, MJL! So crisp and clear and detailed. She certainly give you some great poses and sat still for...what? a millisecond?

Thanks Steve. I did have the in-camera noise reduction turned on to medium. Other than that, none in PP. Your thoughts? Mike

Hi Dixiegirl! It is a female Ruby-throated. I have never been able to find a nest low enough to photograph. All you have to do is get out your binoculars and follow the bird, you'll find the nest. Thank you for your comments. Mike

I'm shooting on noise reduction low in camera and still suffer with "noisy" background but yours are free from noise. I'm going to put mine on standard and check the results. What camera you using, still your pentax?

Thank you for the compliment carlysue! She did sit for a little while and look around. It was fun. Hopefully her boyfriend will cooperate sometime soon. Mike

Hi Steve. I'm still using the Pentax. The background on these is my neighbors Spruce tree. It is about 35 paces behind the hummingbird. I was surprised to see how all the branches and colors blended together. Stats are, ISO 800, Aperture priority at 4.5, shutter speeds varied on these from 1/400 - 1/1000, 300mm lens and ultimately fairly heavily cropped. Mike
