Over a year ago I used Aperture to do post production on photos for a client. They are requesting duplicates of the photos which I still have in Aperture on my MacPro, but the photos are marked with a little yellow triangle in the lower right-hand corner and when I try to export copies to client, a pop-up says that originals are not located or are "off line" and exporting isn't an option.
Is there anyway I can over-ride this and pull what I've got on my laptop to share with the client? Not sure what happened, although it appears that I've sent "original" to the client's marketing person who is no longer with the organization.
Help! Thank You.
I use Aperture. It appears that you have stored the original somewhere outside of your computer storage. You must connect to this source before you can send copies of files.
When I down load my digital files with Adobe Bridge, I convert to adobe's digital negative or .dng. With raw format insures comparability with adobe's software and all versions. That is Adobe's guarantee. I do this because, I don't want to face a future where my images can only be opened in a piece of software I no longer own or has become outdated and unsupported by today's newer proprietary formats that Nikon and Canon use.
My advise to others out there who use out the of main-steam post processing applications, switch to Adobe's Lightroom and Photoshop before Aperture and others like it are discontinued and unsupported.
Thanks for the comeback on my Aperture problem. I'm currently checking all photo files (in IPhoto and Aperture) to see if for some reason the Masters of the photos I looking for might have been inadvertently attached to another file. Other than that, I really don't know where to go to look. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your response. Thankfully, I've bitten the bullet and have installed and endured the learning curve of switching to Adobe's Lightroom 5 and absolutely love the program.
In the meantime, I've obviously placed the 'master' file of photos in question somewhere other than in the intended Aperture file. currently, I'm wading through all photo files on my computer to see if I inadvertently attached the masters to another file. Outside of that, I've no idea where to go? Any further ideas or suggestions from you would be appreciated.
Thanks again for the comeback. Jim
In Aperture, select one of the photos with "original missing".
> File
> Locate referenced files
Pop-up screen will show the volume and path that Aperture last found the file.
The "Locate referenced..." selection may not be available if the images were originally imported as " Managed "
