Getting thier "land legs" in a sea of grass

These Mallard ducklings are at the age when they range further and further away from their mother, but she still does a credible job of keeping her eyes on them.

Very perceptive FvS ..... I wondered how I could take a rather mundane photo of a Mallard and ducklings, and transform it into something that would engender a second look. So I worked at it ......

Thanks Yooper. I experimented with a new effect in the grass, a distortion from the PS CC Filter Gallery called Diffuse Glow. It disguised the grass blades just enough to make for an interesting background (as in, a "sea of grass" of the title). The ducks on the other hand, were treated to a sharpening effect in Lucis.

Very well done. A good image to start, and the added effect takes it over the top! Impressive.

Thanks Treepusher. The image I "almost" used was when one of the ducklings ran through the legs of a Canadian Goose ...... but I had focused in too closely and couldn't see enough of the bigger bird in my frame. It would have been fun to work with.
