Another thread discusses HDR (again) so let's have an HDR only thread. My contribution is this single shot from my favorite alley. I used Photomatix to make it pop.

I didn't even notice - one of those occasions when you see what you expect to see. And, no, not a self-portrait ~smile~ but this alley does fascinate me as it's mostly expressions of pain. The alley itself is littered with broken glass and assorted rubbish but for some reason, it's used as a bulletin board of sorts for emotional outbursts.

Awesome photos everyone!!! What is most eye catching to me with HDR are the ones with people and a lot of things in the photo itself. It just looks so cool!
Thanks for starting this thread!

forbescat, the alley is fascinating for sure. I'd like to do some young folks portraits there...too far away though. Here's another few shots from Savannah Georgia that I took last summer. taxi's

LOL, you're not thinking of senior pictures taken in that alley, are you?

I have a question......
If you don't take 3 or more exposures of the same thing, but somewhat get the effect of "high dynamic range" using other tools, is it still HDR? I have a few other photos I have been playing with and yet I am just using a single photo, but they look pretty cool. What actually classifies a photo as HDR?

Ha! Of course we would all be "Packing Heat" during the session!
