Cool looking Leaf. I can see why you cropped as you did, you start seeing the rest of the leaf return on the left backside. I can see a little bit of it. If that's the part your asking to crop I would say crop away it takes away from the flowing lines. Just for the heck of it I would try removing the reflection just to see what it looks like on it's own. Love the color and Lines, and the blackness makes it pop, Nice shot. PS Yes the flash works on this one.

Like you, I have a D300 also. It is a very capable camera. Here are the following macro lens that i use and have and recommend with success with this camera. You can't go wrong with any of them.
Nikon 55mm f2.8 Af
Nikon 55mm f3.5 ais manual
NIkon 105 f2.5 ais manual
Tamron 90 mm f2.8 AF
Sigma 105 mm f2.8 AF
Nikon 200m f4 ais macro manual
Nikon 60 mm f2.8 AF

I just pre-ordered my NIkon D800E camera. With this camera I plan to pair it with the new NIkon 105 f2.8 G ED IF VR lens for macro duty.

Used my 105 Nikon macro setup with Macro Flash unit. The leaf was iridescent, compare with the "reflection" leaf. Also, should the back tip of the leaf be removed to emphasize more the lines of the leaf?

hey mule didn't we do this before? i remember that leaf - this shot?

Docrob- you need to notice the dates. Even if the post is old and someone comments two months later, the post reappears. It has nothing to do with the original poster "reposting"

I like it too, but if the reflection on the leaf is bothering you then try it again. Also if you go into levels and remove a bit of the red in the shine it helps a bit too. Also as another project (keep this one saved!) try doing some abstract with it. It is a lot of fun and you could get some great results with this subject! (Mirror image of the main leaf and then do a bit of cropping and rotating. Also give the mirrored leaf a try with filters is a great effect) It is amazing what you can come up with! But for this one my first thought was great shot and with your question..again I would just remove a bit of red. I look forward to checking out more of your work... Keep it up!
