That question was answered "a week ago" on another thred--but I don't recall. There was a big discussion of abreviations.

And I suppose you already know why manhole covers are always round, eh?

So JPEG's won't go in them?

It is the only shape cover which cannot accidentally fall through its hole.

***DING, DING, DING***
You got it Steve.
Believe it or not, a lot of people have never thought about this, don't know why, or could care less. <grins> (Useless trivia?)

and I don't know but would expect that in the beginning, no one much thought about it either until someone tried to come up with a better design and found one benefit of the old design. The 'round' to start with may have been because its purpose was to cap a pipe? not a box

Ya can't throw a feather, ya can't bend a potato chip, and if you've got a big enough hammer, you can bust anything. You could PROBABLY even drive a JPEG into a square hhole - or even a manhole cover ??

Manholes are round because any other shape manhole cover would fall in the hole.
