Video light question

Sorry me again with another equipment question...

I am currently in Europe on a bit of an extended stay. I have taken the opportunity to upgrade my equipment while here and I took part in a wedding workshop too.

The photographer holding the workshop, Andrey Balabasov, uses video lights and I am now keen to purchase something that does a similar job. I do not want to spend THAT much ( he uses Dedo lights), so I am wondering if there are any good video lights that are a bit more $ friendly?

Thanks!

:)

If you are using a Nikon camera why not use Nikon's creative lighting system, it is much easier to use and gives you full control. I use 2 SB-800, SB-910 and SB-700 with a commander and various umbrellas, soft box and beauty dish.

I've got an SB 910 and just bought a 2nd hand SB 800. I was planning on learning to use the creative lighting system as one of the options.

I took part in a wedding photography workshop and this photographer's images have a very distinct Look. It seems that it cannot easily be created with flash, that video lights are more effective to achieve it.

That is the reason why I was putting feelers out!

Check out Roto lights. RL48-IK-V2 They have a kit less then $300.00 US You get 2 lights, plus filters and a carrying case. These lights are fantastic, will fit on a light stand, tripod, or your camera. Google Rotolight to see reviews and more info. For the price, these guys are awsome.

I forgot to mention. Jason Lanier Photography did a review on these lights and he has traveled the world using them. He has a pod cast review that is one of the honest reviews I have seen.

To shoot video you need constant lights not strobes. There are many on the market. Just hit googal, amazon and ebay. Lots of kits for about 300, includes softboxes, light tubes, stands umbrellas, etc. But I too will check out the Rotolights.

It's nice to see that you got some good advice and made a decision. Good luck!

By the way, never apologize for asking a question. That's what keeps this forum going.
