Preparing slideshow on MacBook Pro and curious as to satisfaction with the Lightroom 5 slideshow program. Open to alternate suggestions Thanks!
Nearly every Mac graphics program has a slideshow capability. In order to give you a proper answer, we need to know more about what the goal of the slideshow is. Do you want music? Do you want hands-off? Do you want a repeating loop?
For very basic slideshows, you could download and use the free Phoenix Slides (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/18735/phoenix-slides). The Mac's included Preview application also has a very powerful slideshow capability. Various Office suites (Libre, OpenOffice) also have slideshow features. Lightroom has a slideshow, but it isn't the only one. You have plenty from which to choose.
Have used IPhoto slide program with Ken Burns effect and music. Am thinking there might be a program with better resolution and more accurate capturing of color.
But, one of its frustrations, is that you can only add one song. So it plays over and over on longer shows.
If someone knows otherwise please chime in.
The trick is to use an audio editor (Audacity will work - freebie) to create an mp3 file that is the length that is required for the slide show. That way, one can combine different types of music to match the photos.
Stand corrected, yes it is called FotoMagico. ProShow Gold is also good but cannot be used on a Mac.
(Photodex does have a Mac-compatible slideshow tool called ProShow Web that creates dynamic photo and video slideshows directly from any Mac or PC. Visit the ProShow Web site to try it free.)http://kb.photodex.com/2981/how-to-run-proshow-on-a-mac/
I will have to look into that as I did like using it when I had my PC. They had told me the program was not available for the mac.
