Traveling Serendipity - Crooked Picture

Hello All,

I am an amateur photographer looking to absorb all advice I can. My camera is a Nikon D60 with 18-55 mm and 70 mm lenses. I bought it years ago but am a poor wanderer and have spent most of my money getting to places instead of saving up for better quality cameras and lenses.

I love landscapes and people, near and far. I don't like to edit my pictures much and instead try to capture a moment as perfectly as possible. Below is a picture I took after an ice storm.

My first question: Does the crookedness take away from the picture?

Lovely to meet you all (in advance)!

I believe you could improve your picture by adjusting contrast and straightening the perspective and adjusting the composition a little. Sample attached. But in the final analyst it is whether the final product reflects the emotional response you wish to convey.
