Yesterday morning I was impressed with the golden tones of the sunrise and snapped a few out my window. I posted on of those yesterday.
But after I'd taken those, I went out to see if there was any other opportunity in the morning and was immediately struck by the light on the ground and sort of "glowing" around a green door.
The lens I had at the time Nikon 55-300mm couldn't get a decent exposure, so I went and changed it to my 35mm f/1.8 where I got this shot at 1/25, ISO 100 (yeah, it was handheld; I'm amazed the picture didn't blur more).
So, now I look at it and can't decide if it really is a decent photo or not. No PP -- this is the way it rendered (NEF converted to DNG via Lightroom).
Comments? Thoughts?
I would consider this as a test shot. If the rug at the bottom was cropped out, view expanded to include the top of door and the distortion corrected, then you would have a shot of... well, a very common door.

Yeah, well, it truly is a "very common door." Maybe that's what I don't like about it.
Your other points are also well taken. And I agree with them all.
I guess what bothers me is that I really liked the play of colors in the early morning light, and I was unable to capture that.
I didn't pay attention before to it being unedited RAW. Just an increase in brightness does a lot to bring out the gold.
I have to agree Odd. Wish I could say something nice, but I just cannot. seeya

You're right. It's a wash. No redeeming value.
Thanks for looking, and for your honest comments.

I disagree with it being a wash with no redeeming value. You learned something for the next time. We have all taken photos for that very same reason.
Perhaps next time concentrate on only a part of the door and the gold furnishings.

Yesterday morning I was impressed with the golden ... (

It's a picture of a door. if I had taken that shot I would just add it to my ever growing collection of 30000 plus shots of mediocre things! ;)
