Nikon 24-120mm f/4

A couple of guys had an imformal shoot out last night, and I decided to use the 24-120.
A friend was torn with the reviews and wanted to know my feelings. A lot of people worry about distortion and softness.
I find that the in camera software, and good technique out weigh both of these factors, and that you can't go wrong with this lens.
These are raw converted to JPEG images. No touch ups yet.

For some reason the first two shots don't work for me.
However, the third one is gorgeous.
I wished I could explain why but I'm still new to photography and have a lot to learn, especially about composition.
