My Editor suddenly stopped working. The Organizer still functions, but when i go to Editor, the message says Editor has stopped working and Windows is looking for a solution.
Anyone had this problem, or maybe i did something wrong?
Please, do not rush to uninstall Elements. When the Editor crashes (freezes, stops responding), the usual suspects are:
Third-party add-ons (due to incompatibility, faulty installation, corrupted files).
Preferences file: This file can get easily corrupted/damaged. When this happens Elements will display unexpected behavior.
As you said you had not installed any add-ons, you could look into the Preferences file as the potential culprit. You need to delete this file and force Elements to generate a replacement file. In Elements 12 this is achieved by simply clicking a button.
Go to Edit>Preferences>General (Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor>Preferences> . . . on a Mac).
Click the "Reset Preferences on next launch" button.
Just ignore this warning: "This cannot be undone."
Click OK.
Close Elements and then start it again.
Unfortunately, as the Editor is crashing at start-up, you may not be able to get to Edit>Preferences . . . In this case, you need to delete the Preferences file the way it is done in Elements 10 and earlier versions, i.e., using a three-key combo. This is from the Help file.

Elements has two Preferences files: one for the Organizer and one for the Editor. Deleting the Editor's Preferences file will have no effect on the Organizer. However, keep in mind that there is a downside when deleting the Editor's Preferences file. After Elements gives you a replacement file (generated automatically), you need to go back and redo any "custom" changes you had made in the Editor. Ex.: All the panels will be back to their default position. If you had rearranged them to meet your needs, you will have to do it again.
