HI everyone, a week or so ago i posted to see what people thought about leaving a signature on their photos/ images that they have sold.

It was mixed reactions but i thought i would try one. I would like one there but would also like it to be not obtrusive to the image.

How have i done Please.

The horses head shot its under the front leg
The full horse shot its on a white post block along side the ground.

Any feeback please

My opinion... If you want it on there, make it obvious and legible. You can make it somewhat transparent, but the viewer should be able to easily see and understand it. Placement and size can vary, depending on the image.

I like both of your pictures . I would do some PP. In the 1-st picture I would "remove" white "strip" near horse's head and crop empty space behind horse in the 2-nd one.. IMHO.

Try a watermark program. I use UMARK4 very versatile.

Just looks like some tiny hairs got on your sensor. Why sign anything if nobody in the world can even read it?

magicunicorn,

Your signature, copyright, or trademark can be included on any photo you place on a web site.
It should be noticeable, but not distracting from the subject. The purpose is to advertise your work and to make it more difficult to copy and reuse.

The examples you have provided do not perform this task.

You cannot prevent the hard core theft of images from web sites, you can only make it difficult.

For photos you have sold and printed, you can sign the matte frame, or the back side of the print.

If you are concerned about internet theft then only upload very low resolution images, place a semi-transparent copyright viable in a corner, and forget about more expensive methods.

I think Michael nailed this completely. You're a professional. Something in good taste but noticeable.

The best is to embed the copy write in the exif file and regester (copywrite) them in mass. When someone wants your signature, do it on the margin border. David

I certainly wouldn't have known it was there if you hadn't told us! I think, if you want a watermark, it could be down in the corner so people could see it.

looks good I don't like when it distracts from photo

Thank you for your feedback everyone valued. Shutterbugwis I made it like this for that very reason it's there for identification purposes but not to ruin the photo... just like an artist signs his/her paintings.
I have a watermark already I designed which I use on my website and Facebook.
Thank you to everyone for your feedback.
