the only thing that engineering and quality assurance can be sure of .is the product will fail as the warrenty runs out . every thing is made to fail . why doesent a fridge last as long as they did in the fifties. thirty years or more was no problem . same as stoves , dish washers , dryers, even $1500 lazy boys recliners , every thing is made to fail just after the warranties are gone .
that's the only way they can assure they will always have buyers . go to a store where they sell this stuff 90 percent of the buyers are repeat buesness .
not newly weds buying there first appliance . these things go through strict testing and if any last to many hours more than they should . they won't stop
looking for the offending part that refuses to die . and replace it with one that
does . and that is the truth

The truth hurts. My parents received a toaster (General Mills) for a wedding gift, and it lasted 60 years! They wouldn't dare build them that way today.

I bought my Nikon D7100 from a member here - Patw28 - for 1/2 the price. Low shutter count also. I couldn't be happier. I called him and he answered every one of my questions and even sent me an extra battery and 2 memory cards! And yes, my camera is refurbished. I learned quite a bit with him, including the fact that I don't need to buy new. Thank you Pat!!!

Bought a D800 refurb this past Christmas from B&H. Grilled the salesman on the shutter count and history of the camera. He said the camera was lightly used in shows.
That they were all low shutter count cameras that were like new. He was right. When I got the camera it looked like no one had used it. The shutter count was less than a 100.
Love it. Hope this helps. B&H is great to work with.

a low shutter count refurb is a much better camera than a new one . as every thing has been checked . and every screw tighten to specs , new shutter mechanisms put in . where as a new just rolls of the assembly line and is shoved in a box . then sold to you . maybe one in a hundered are pulled of the line and checked out . but I heard many times from people in the know say that a refurb is better than new . I know on a per units sold basses that a refurb is less probmatc than a new unit . they have done test on that also , out of five hundered refurbs sold and 500 new sold . there is less mishaps with the refurbs .
