Manatee mating season. Now let's be glad we don't have that as a reality television show. Not yet anyway.

Oh yes, the pictures were great. The lovely lady in the first photo was superb in the centerfold section of, "Manatee Ladies Gone Wild." Quite lovely indeed.

My brother's and my first car as teenagers was a 1960 bugeye Sprite in BRG. We loved that car and it generally did well for us except during a rainstorm. If we drove through a deep enough puddle the water would splash up into the engine compartment and short out the distributor. Then we would come to a stop. After getting out a rag and drying the wiring it would start up and we would be on our way. It was a great car.

I had the remodeled 1962 MG Midget version of that, with the 948 cc engine. One winter, after a big snow storm, it wouldn't start. When I lifted the hood, I saw snow packed in tight. The engine was no longer visible.

They were great little cars. the English called them "Frog Eye," while we called them "Bug Eye." I liked the way the whole front opened up.

Was that modified?

It was balanced, Dave Crower designed and made the cam, polished all that was possible including the SU carbs, took 60 thousands off the head and installed over size valves, plus more.
