Received a call for Hunts Photo Friday to let me know that Tamron announced they would start shipping the Nikon mount on April 30, 2014 to the US distributors.

Maybe they started building the Nikon and stopped the Canon. Probably they have only one mfg. line. Once it is converted to Nikon they cannot make Canons? Just worst scenario, my thoughts are always worst scenario. Maybe they did not anticipate such a good reception.

I'm seriously looking at this lens too. On the D7100 is would be 900mm for a little more than $1K.

I'll wait until the Nikon version has been in the field for awhile. I read that the Canon version had problems. Can't be sure its accurate since long lenses require some learning, but its better to be safe. Look what happened with the D600. The reviewers blew it completely.

That's great news, especially since it's coming much sooner than most people expected. I would suggest that anyone interested place an order soon.

Jerry; I'm interested in that lens as well, just need to make sure that there are no problems with this one. However, Regis has had some stunning shots with this lens and seems to be very happy.

Right. It seems that they introduced it first for Canon so that the Canon users would be the beta testers, so that Tamron could present a perfect product to Nikon users. :D

This lens, Canon version, is at the top of my next lens list. I haven't placed an order yet but everywhere I look it is listed as pre-order or backorder. I'm hoping to have it in time for my late July vacation. Demand is obviously quite high.

I have had my Tamron since Feb. 12 of this year... Made a lot of eagle shows and other animals with this fine and really great lens...
I traded in my Sigma 150-500 for it and got a really great deal.. With the trade in the Tamron cost me out of pocket about $720.00 U.S.D.

I got it from my local camera shop here in Saint Louis, Missouri = SCHILLER'S Camera, on Manchester Rd.

I was the first in STL to get this fine lens for my Canon - fits both the 5D Mark II and the 60D....

I am Very happy with the results.
