Cutting out a subject using photoshop elements

I am just learning Elements so appreciate the input. I haven't used the polygonal selection tool. I'll have to try it. So far selection is one of my larger challenges.

Outlining with lasso tool, select Inverse and Edit clear. Using Levels to lighten the bag .

Go up to the top where it say's image and go down to magic extractor and it will guide you through removing an object
