I am considering buying this software for use in LR5 and PSE 10. Today is the last day of a sale they are running. and I can get the "Perfect Photo Suite 8" for $79.95 with an upgrade to 8.5 in May.

Do many of you use it and what do you think of it? Is it worth the cost?

I use it on a regular basis and I really enjoy using it. I think Perfect Suites is a great plug-in for Lightroom. It is easy to use and the tutorials are very informative.

I have the PPS 8 Lightroom plug in version and use it constantly, very happy with it….. easy to use, powerful features, much easier (& faster) than recreating all the effects in Photoshop…..for the price, you can't go wrong….. only advice is to watch the OnOne training videos to get yourself up to speed, they're included in the program…….. have a blast !

It sounds like it would be worth the cost. Appears to have a good collection of presets. I like that one version will work with LR, PSE or as a stand alone program! My require you to purchase each one separately and it gets expensive!

I am incredibly happy with it, it's part of my post processing and I would have a hard time doing with out it now……. the software engineers were actually THINKING when they designed one platform to integrate with different programs, (PSE, LR or Stand Alone) I hear you on cost, nice to know that some companies have their customer's backs!

Do you own a previous version of Perfect Photo Suite? The price you are quoting is an "upgrade" price for previous owners of this program. If you are a new owner, you will be charged the full price, which is on sale at $99.95.

They have extended the sale to 4/29. I did upgrade to version 8 and am not sorry. I almost got Photomatix so I could do natural looking HDR photos but found that onOne ver. 8 now does HDR if you use layers.

Yes, you can now do layers from LR, YEA! Here is an example I did from three raw photos just playing around.

Use it and love it. Especially like the layering capability.

I am sure that someone that uses PS could be more specific but I can get you into the ballpark. A simple definition of HDR (High Dynamitic Range) is the combining of very similar photos taken at different settings being combined to bring out the best features of each photo. I use LR to do most of my PP. To do this you normally bring in each photo as a layer and then combine them to make one photo. The problem with LR is it does not do layers.

Take your photos, normally 1 to 3 f-stops apart. Try not to move the camera between each shot. Some cameras can use AEB (auto exposure bracketing) making this a little easier.

Download your photos to your program. Select one of the photos for PP, LR calls this developing. Using the menus go to "plug in extras" the select "Perfect Layers 8". This will open the photo selected. Using PL 8 go to "browses", select your next photo or photos and then click on "layers". You will get a menu box pop up. Select "edit as a layer" and click OK. On the right side under Navigator, hold the shift key down and select the photos you are going to work with. Under the photos click the "merge layer" box. This will merge all your photos into one photo. Now you can crop or do what ever you want to that shot. Select "enhance", then on the left select "enhance" and using the onOne presets, pick the preview photo you want and then on the bottom right click "APPLY" for each one you want. This will create a separate layer for each view. Select the layers you want to merge and then click "merge layer" box till you have one photo that looks the way you want it to. Under file click" save" or "save as". If you can't use "save as" it will "save" the photo as a "PSD" format. Click "exit".

You will be back in your PP program to do what ever you want. This is for LR 5 but guess it would be the same for PS. What I really like about this is it now lets you use layers, which you do not have in LR. You can do the same using PSE 10 by using "file", "automation tools" then "Perfect Effects 8".
