I have been reading Bryan Peterson's Understanding Exposure and his Understanding Photography Field Guide, and I'm taking some of his suggestions to heart.
For the past several days I've been working at a client site, and each morning I have been captivated by this "dome." So why not take a picture of it? Then, opening my "photographer's eye," I found a couple of other interesting objects: an old train bridge, pock-marked with rust. A construction worksite reflected off a modern office building's glass windows.

Keep working it, Fred! Peterson never fails; it's we who fail to capitalize on his insights. Keep it up! Especially like the "reflection" (#3). If you know who occupies the building with the dome, might be an opportunity to explore the view from there!?

In my opinion, your "photographer's eye" is working - these are neat shots - sharp images, good composition and lighting - well done
Thanks for your nice comments. By the way, no PP done on the "rust" or "reflection" pics. I did brighten the dome a bit.
Sorry, but I don't know whose or what building it belongs to. Or what its purpose is, either!

What city is it in?
Washington, D.C. Just a couple of blocks off the mall, in Southwest.

I have a friend that lives there - I'll send him the link to this page and ask him what it is...

I think I found it using google map satellite view...
If it was across the street from a Catholic Church, it is the United States International Trade Commission building.

Yes, thank you. I was married in that church, by the way -- St. Dominic's.
