Focus shift is a displacement of the sharp plane of focus when the lens is focused wide open, but the image is made with the lens stopped down.

Did you know about “Focus shift”? Did you experience it in your shooting?
Is it only concern when shooting very fast (f/1.2 or f/1.4) lens? Can it be responsible for some softness in image? Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I have experienced focus shift on nikkor 50mm f1.8 prime. When i af fine tune wide open at f1.8 i can get tack sharp result. If i stop down to f5.6 then focus shifts backwards a bit. At f5.6 o hav to fine tune again. How do others deal with this?
