Day 10 -- Photo A Day Challenge -- 1-10-12

Welcome to day 10 of our challenge....I want to thank you all for participating ... this has been very stimulating.
I'm going to start us off with a photo I took about a month ago...The composition is terrible, the museum was getting ready to close and I couldn't wait any longer for the other people to leave, so this was the best I could do.
I always thougth these were mythological creatures ... but finding this skeleton in a museum ... I think its possible that I was mistaken LOL.
I look forward to everyone's photos.

Centaur Skeleton at the Desert Wildlife Museum

Here is my 1st photo submission for this challenge. I hope it gets posted correctly. This is a photo taken while on vacation in Florida in July 2011. It is a location that had a sign that said "Photo Opp."
Boat Landing at "Lombard's Landing" inside the Universal Studios theme park in FL. I will post the other photo of this area on the next photo day.

Thanks ces308 [aka Chris]! I have to work on the saturation just a bit on the other one before I post it for the following day. I'm looking to participating in this challenge, as I'm always looking for "new" material to shoot. Nice to know you here Chris! :-)

You 're going to like it here Jennie ! There's a lot of nice ,helpful ,people here .Photogrl started this to get everyone out taking pictures and it seemed to work !

Phew Good News ..... I was correct afterall.
I had a debate with the hubby this morning over whether that was a real skeleton or not. He said not and I said they wouldn't have it in a museum if it was fake .... wrong.
I found this in wikipedia:
The John C. Hodges library at The University of Tennessee hosts a permanent exhibit of a "Centaur from Volos", in its library. The exhibit, made by sculptor Bill Willers, by combining a study human skeleton with the skeleton of a Shetland pony is entitled "Do you believe in Centaurs?" and was meant to mislead students in order to make them more critically aware, according to the exhibitors.
Another exhibit by Willers is now on long term dislplay at the International Wildlife Museum in Tucson, Arizona. The full-mount skeleton of a Centaur is on display, along with several other fabled creatures, including the Cyclops, Unicorn and Griffin.
So in proving myself right ... I proved myself wrong and the hubby right ... thereby proving myself right all along LOL

Thanks for doing this for us photogrl57. It has been a wonderful gift. I look forward to the next dayand seeing what I can find. When I showed my hubby my pictures from yesterday, he even said he thought my pictures were getting better.......
