Can't go into the swamp now but I liked the reflection in the water that has covered the bridge, so I crawled around a bit on the ground trying to find an angle. Made two new friends while at it, two lady bikers from Oregon who are touring the country with massive teddy bears strapped to the backs of their bikes. I didn't ask.

Comments, suggestions, please. I will probably get to go back at least once before the waters recede.

That's a very interesting effect. It almost looks like the bridge is suspended in air, the reflection is startling. The colors and composition are pleasing and the curve of the bridge leads the eye to whatever mystery is hidden back in the trees.

Composition, interest, exposure.....all appealing Minnie. I enjoy the optical illusion effect the image achieves and the leading line in the composition. 8-)

The reflective illusion that the railings are suspended above considerable space lend an effective Dali or Magritte surrealism to the scene. The sinuous leading lines draw the viewer inexorably deeper within the swamp. Absence of mood tropes via exposure or focus leave considerable interpretive breadth.

Impact: 4
Technical:3.5
Composition4
Total: 11.5

Excellent colour and clarity, Minnie. The reflection is inverted reality, you are trammeled by the rails deeper into the swamp, more unreality and mystery or perhaps enlightenment?

Thanks HT. The mystery is what I wanted to get.

Much appreciated Bmac, the illusion effect was what grabbed me, glad I had some success in conveying it.

Thanks Dave. It looked surreal to me but I wasn't sure if that is because I am so used to walking on the bridge that I almost stepped into it. (Probably would've been Ok if I'd had on taller boots). I am relieved to find that the surreal effect came through in the photo..

Thank you Graham. The swamp is rather mysterious on its own, but when the way you get in becomes a big wet mirror, it feels very strange, glad I captured the unreality. The hardest thing to learn to capture in a photo is my own emotional response to a scene.

It is the hardest but also the most vital thing.

This is an excellent shot. It has the color, clarity, tones, leading lines and impact, a photo needs, and it causes me to want to view it over and over. Well done.
