A row of trees along the Mississippi river near St. Louis, MO. The original pic was done on Kodacolor 400 a few years ago.
I scanned the print then converted it to gray scale in Paint Shop Pro. I then added color back (red, green, and I think a touch of yellow) until I got the warm brown tone I like. It is easier to just do a quick conversion to sepia, but I didn't really like the shade of brown that sepia gives.
I was emulating a proceedure I used to do when all this had to be done in a darkroom.I would make a b&w print on fiber paper, finish it completely and ready to dry. Before drying, I would soak it in strong black coffee until I had the shade of brown I wanted and then I would dry it. It was a really nice enhancement for certain subjects.
Comments welcome.
