drizzle all day - I like being in them, but I don't know how to take pics in them. It's hard to get a feeling of depth, perhaps portrait is better strategy or something. Any thoughts much appreciated!

Edit -- damn, meant to post in gallery. Sorry
Edit2 -- thank you for moving me!

This looks very interesting.... I think.... but it is so dark it is hard to tell for sure. I like the color in the sky, and I think landscape mode is the way to go. Do you have software to lighten it a bit? If not, may I lighten it a little bit and post the results?

Hey pfrancke - this is a fantastic photo. Did you try, at all, to increase the glow in post processing - maybe brighten the highlights a bit. Regardless, it is a great shot with a ton of mood. Really good work!

hi HT, go for it! I can lighten, but I fear that would kill the mood of it - it was twilight after all.. I've got a quarter that says just brightening would flatten it.

hi dugole,
Thanks for kind words. What exactly do you mean by glow? Tell us more about how.. I'm suspecting you mean more than just contrast. Sky a little brighter and foreground a little darker like a graduated filter? Or some other type technique?

I'm not sure who will owe who a quarter, but here it is so we can compare two versions, slightly different.

A beautiful image, full of atmosphere. I wonder if there is a degree of light/dark between the original and HT's? :)

hi gtwhogger and Linda, The fog was settling in a little. Thank you for your visit!

HT, that quarter I think is yours.. I didn't think it would be, but that would be my vote. Your image lets the light play more, and the fog is more clear (fog is more clear, that doesn't sound right!) but it is so.

Thanks, pfrancke! You can PM me and I'll send you my address to mail me the quarter. Or, if you prefer, I take PayPal. JUST KIDDING! Actually I was not totally pleased with what I did. When daylight is failing, the first color that our eyes cannot see is red, due to the way the rods and cones or whatever they are in our eyes work. The leaves still have some reddish tones so I thought it would be more accurate to go in there and subdue that leaf color. I tried, but wasn't happy with the results that I got, so I didn't try posting another version.

I think we can safely call our little contest a draw. I liked Linda's comments.... something in between yours and mine might look best. If we can knock out the pesky red tones!
