Robert Capa

In a recent reply to rmcintyre3, I suggested that the work of photographers who lived into old age. I mentioned Robert Capa. I was duly informed that I was wrong: Capa did not live into old age. I regret and apologize for the error.

However, Capa was an excellent photographer who worked primarily during the 30's and 40's. He was involved in the founding of Magnum Photos. His work is still an excellent source for inspiration.

A link. View "Full Screen" and then "Dark." You get a better image, and with Dark selected, you can see the white arrow to move to the next picture.

I quote Robert Capa on every tour I do: If your photo isn't good enough, you're not close enough. That philosophy got him killed, as a WWII photographer. I work around bears a lot. I try to keep that in mind too! :)

This is thought to be the last photo Robert Capa shot in Viet Nam in June, 1954 just before stepping on a land mine that killed him.
