I have a Kalt collapsible rubber lens hood that has become grey over the years. Anyone know how to make it black again? I tried washing it but that didn't work.

You could always use black dye - but does it matter?
Personally, I would paint it white and auction it to Canon Users.
It is probably oxidation. I wouldn't worry about the outside, but on the inside you could probably use some very fine grit sandpaper to take off that layer and make it black with a rough surface.....
Hi Jimbo all Rubber oxodises with time, the only way really to make it black again is use a solvent based liquid which will take the top surface away. (This I would not recommend.) I used to work for Michelin Tyres and this is what we used to do to refresh the rubber.
In my Opinion best thing is to leave it as is.

What about armor-all or one of those tire dressing compounds?
get a large tip black prem marker. Paint it, let it dry. If thet does not work, Follow what the other guy said and just replace it.
Black magic marker? Armor All might make it shiny.
Give WD40 a try.
Bon chance

No, Black PERM Magic marker. I have used it on other things. Does not come off on your hands once dry. If the option is to replace it. It is worth a try.
Try mink oil for waterproofing shoes and boots.
No one mentioned 'duck tape'.lol
Go to an auto parts store and buy a bottle of " BACK TO BLACK " you use it on cars to make the rubber mouldings look good again. Does a fine job !!!
All products mentioned (+ travel + time + gas) all sound more than the cost of a rubber lens hood from B&H, (no tax + free shipping) seems a no brainer.
