Tripod toting photographer causes school lockdown

Actually, the photographer was completely unaware of any problem. It was the skittishness of students and faculty that led to the school lockdown when a camera and tripod were mistaken for a weapon:

It's a wonder the cameraman wasn't shot. Where is common sense anymore?

Schools are not required to exhibit common sense just common core.

REALLY? The school went into lock down mode because of a photographer with a tripod? Give me a break! Sounds like another case of government / school bureaucracy control and the innocent assumed to be guilty until proven otherwise. I wonder how much teaching time was lost during the lock-down caused by the big bad photographer with that "automatic" camera and tripod?

I hope he didn't have it really set on Auto. OMG no wonder the students were terrified.

Yes we have lost all sense of common sense in our country.

When common sense is finally located it will not be on any school property for sure.

How many rounds of photos can the memory clip hold? Was it of legal capacity?

Kids are being put in fear of everything these days.

About twenty years ago I was on my way home in our Astro Van and was at a stop sign at the corner facing the elementary school where my son went. All of the kids had gone home, but there was one straggler needing to cross the street. I waved him across (since he had to cross in my direction I motioned in my direction). Instead of crossing the street he turned around and ran back to the school like a jack rabbit. Within a couple of days, a note was sent home with my son that somebody had tried to abduct a boy at the school. Who was I to say it was me???

And who pays for the repeated deployment of swat teams and busing kids to nearby schools because a guy has a camera?

You watch...soon they will outlaw cameras that have military style handles and large capacity SD cards and tripods...

You already can't take a camera with a long lens to pro games.

That's why I love my X100S...(and X-T1)...nobody gives them a second look...they always assume that I've borrowed my Dad's film camera from the 70's. :)
