Very nice. The horizon, or water line, in the first and last shots is slightly tilted to the left (counter-clockwise), but otherwise they're good shots.

Thanks Charlie, I didn't quite get #1 fixed did I? The last I'm still trying to hold my head the right way to see it.. :) Here's some more.. I am fascinated with reflections as you can no doubt tell..

I'm sorry - number three, not four. The easiest way to check is to move that part of the photo to the edge of the browser (or editor) window. I use Lightroom 3 for my initial, basic editing - it has a grid overlay for getting things straight.

Good idea to line up with the window edge.. That will work fine until I get my copy of Lightroom..

Watch your focus. The second photo is either out of focus, or the camera was moving. The third isn't focused sharply. I'm guessing the camera focused somewhere in the middle of the reflected area on the lake instead of on the trees on the actual shoreline. Autofocus?

If you are shooting from a tripod, you might want to take photos at different speeds, see what the reflection looks like with a slower time and the resulting softness. Just to see if you get an interesting effect.

reflections are fun to play with. i notice it appears that you were standing up when you took these??

I find when I lower my camera position that will change the image and colors reflected in the water....or sometimes just making the reflection itself the subject and watching how gently rippling water again creates lines/colors. As one pays more attention to reflections - the more one see's and eventually the kind of light and sky you sorta need will become more apparent too.

Ever shoot in a light tent? You can get some great reflections there. I have one if you would like to see it

docrob, Yes they are, and yes I do find myself on knees, elbows, etc. in order to get that angle.. I was however, standing or kneeling on most of these.. If there's any one in particular where you think that would have worked let me know which one.. Wasn't optional on a couple of them..

Appreciate your comment.. ed

This car is about the size of a smart phone!

I used a black background in it. You can use a card table turned upside down and cover it with white bedsheets on three sides and the top. This will difuse the light. I use a halogen work light for the top about 2 feet away ( they get hot ) light and a halogen flood light on each side. The base it is sitting on is a piece of 1/8th inch sheetmetal painted black at a friends body shop.
I also think B & H sells them but they are smaller. They do have larger ones but they are costly. You can turn lights on or off to create shadows as well.
