Hi...I recently saw a thread here about B&H and their service. Top rate. Last summer when I was getting ready for my Niagara trip I ordered a 3rd battery for my Canon SX50 from them...and two days before I left it somehow ended up in Atlanta GA (I live in Maine!) on the UPS truck. I called them immediately and told them what happened and they said they would overnight another one...and next morning...it arrived. THAT's what I call customer service! I also have a very good local Photo shop I use with an excellent staff and I've become friends with one of them...who just sold me a new MePhoto Tripod which I love...on his recommendation. There are good folks out there that really do want to help you...if you just ask them.
My two cents for now...
I love B&H. Fabulous service. Had the opportunity to visit the store this week. What an experience!!
I've been to the store, and I order essentially everything from B&H. It's like a kid in a candy store - total sensual overload. You may save a buck here and there but very little, and no one has the reputation among pros that B&H has earned.
Having said that, I do hurt for the little local retailers. If you really can't get to the B&H store (as I can't) and need hands-on help or personal attention, then you should not expect to use their facilities for information, only to take your purchase online.

I have a local camera shop (an hour away) that has been really good to me in the past. So I am on their waiting list for the new Tamron lens---even though I will have to spend a bit more by paying the tax on it by getting it there, it is worth it to me. I would be lost if they went out of business due to the online stores.

I still run a few film cameras and darkroom, so B&H, Adorama, and also KEH(can't forget them)get 99% of my bussiness.
Amazon sells photography gear, too, and offers sales and bargains. I've found its service first rate.
www.samys.com has 8 camera stores here in California, and provides full service for photography.

The old brick & mortar stores should be concerned, especially with Calumet going bankrupt. I still use B&H for most of my photo gear but I also have Amazon-Prime and find myself going there more and more. B&H, Adorama and Samy's are smart because of their online presense, and they probably have a loyal cadre of customers. I'd bet that their walk-in business is on a downward trend, maybe just slightly in B&H's case.
Amazon's FREE shipping on most Prime products is a no-brainer as is their (just about) "no-questions asked" return policy.

Yep, B&H has good prices and good service !!
90% of my gear comes from B&H
I have bought many items from B&H on line, I like the service, delivery and simplicity. I also visited their store about 2 years ago, I did not enjoy that, it was just to busy for my taste. Just my 2 cent's
And having used both, I find B&H to have it all over Adorama with respect to service.

I started buying camera gear from B&H and was so impressed with their service that price became almost irrelevant. I've since begun buying other things from them as well. I've purchased two TVs, binoculars, and so on. I highly recommend them every chance I get. You can buy "stuff" anywhere but the kind of service B&H offers is getting hard to find. Helpful, sincere and always make you feel that they're glad you called.
