Can someone please assist me in finding out if I can still purchase the Nikon EN-EL3e battery. On-line is showing counterfit batteries compaired to the original, as well as other than Nikon labels on them. I have also read these batteries have been discontinued due to over heating issues. My present batteries I have had for around six years with no problems, but would feel more comfortable with new ones in my gadget bag. I am cautious about getting something other than what I have been using, not wanting to get replacements that are too strong nor too weak that may have a negative effect on my cameras. Thanking you in advance for any assistance you can offer. Jamers

I bought two of original Nikon made in Japan batteries in July I think, for around $30. They say as long as it says "made in japan" on the backside they are gen-u-wine; all other rip offs don't say that. So they say..

Keep checking your old ones for voltage drop every month.

Thank you for the quick reply, yes the "made in Japan" ones are legitimate, just having a hard time finding replacements of the same battery. One store around my home says they have one that will do for $49.00 The one I am looking for "is" the Nikon EN-EL3e Li-ion 7.4V 1500mAh Nikon Corporation Made in Japan (Gray in color)

B&H Photo lists this as a current item, temporarily out of stock. I heard the earthquake and flooding over there has created a shortage of many things. They should, however be available sometime soon.

Google the part number and you can find them. I just bought one for $26.00 at igadgetnow.com. They tried to sell me an aftermarket battery but I insisted on the original Nikon. No problem. This is the only thing I have ever purchased from this site so I wouldn't necessarily recommend them but my one time experience was fine.

Thank you very much Ed for your kind response, a local dealer near me in Pontiac Michigan called back last night saying he can now get some as well. I will keep the phone number you sent me for future photographic needs. Yours in life, Jamers

I have several Nikon's, oddly enough every one of the original (4) "Nikon" batteries failed first, the knock offs are still working fine.
I just purchased 2 new "exact replacement batteries" with a compact charger (also has a car cig lighter adapter) for $10.99. I lost my last one on a vacation.
Try eBay, I've used this company for a number of things, very pleased. EverydaySource

Genuine Nikon En-El3e are on the rack at my local Best Buy for $49.95. Saw them there yesterday when I picked up an En-EL15 for my D7000.

There is advertizing for your battery at the bottom of the forum today about memory card failures. May try there.
