I am going to Vancouver for 7 days from April 20-27th and am look for some interesting photo subjects from street photography, interesting and historic buildings to landscape. I also plan to spend some time in Chinatown, Any and all suggestions would be welcome.

Well you can't go to Vancouver and not drive though Stanley Park, you just can't, that would be so wrong. Gastown is also a great area to visit. Shopping on Robson Street is always fun. If you can, drive along the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler, it is a beautiful drive you won't soon forget and Whistler is a unique town.

Will you be driving? If so, take Hwy 1 westbound and get off at Cypress Bowl Road. There drive up to the High View Lookout. The time of day to go there would be a little while before sunset so you can get some "daylight" photos. But stay till after sundown and you should be able to get some good shots of the city of Vancouver all lit up. Hopefully the weather will cooperate, after all this is the we(s)t coast.

Another nice spot would be the Cleveland Dam, with a good view of the twin mountain peaks "The Lions", and the nearby fish hatchery. Or you could take a ride with the gondola up Grouse Mountain from that area. I can't tell you about the view from there, I've never been up.

Rather than taking the car into the city of Vancouver, you could buy a daypass for transit - it will allow you transportation on bus, skytrain, and seabus. There is not enough parking space in Vancouver, and what there is, is expensive.

If you're staying in a hotel, I'm sure they can help you there with maps and brochures. There is a tourist office quite close to the Waterfront Sky Train station, where they have lots and lots of information.

All the places I mentioned here can easily be found on Google Maps.

Your only about a 45 minute ride south to the Columbia Gorge. This is a great spot for landscape and waterfall shots.

Well worth the drive.

I think he was talking about Vancouver BC as opposed to Vancouver WA. A bit more than 45 minutes... but still worth the drive if the weather is cooperating
