A little birdie told me that Adobe would be releasing LR 4 sometime next week.
We will see!
They may announce at CES this week in Vegas. Fingers crossed.
Any guess as to what will be new in LR4 vs LR3?

I heard that some 3D stuff will be added.
Great! Still trying to learn all the bells and whistles in LR3!!
Argh. Yet another upgrade!
Can any of you LR3 experts/users tell me the best way to remove blemishing marks and spots on faces. "Skin softening" doesn't do it. "Spot removal" doesn't do it. I've checked the manual and Kelby's training manual for LR3 and can't figure out how to accomplish this satisfactorily. Thanks a lot. I appreciate your input.

In all honesty I do not like the spot removal tool in lightroom 3. Its' method of sampling leaves a lot to be desired. After I get done doing my tweaks in lightroom, I then slam it over to cs5 to finish up the job. I use the spot healing too and the healing brush to get rid of blemishes.

Thanks, tainkc, for your input. I'm glad I'm not the only one wanting more out of LR3.
I hope we get some sort of break for a upgrade.
I am a great believer in LR3. I've watched the videos. Which feature(s) are you impressed with? For my use it may only be the Develop module. The videos don't cover everything in detail, but I am interested in seeing what you and others think.
BTW software $ are killing me. Lots of recommendations here about Topaz, Nik etc. Already CS6 in the works (?)
and maybe Windows 8. Not to mention my really good
desktop of two years ago is bogging down!
Cheers!

I like the changes in the develop mode as well but those changes by themselves would not warrant an upgrade. I like the Mapping feature . really like the Book module as we do a lot of albums. I think this can work for us.
But, although not addressed in the videos, the LR 4 engine is suppose to handle backups with warp speed efficiency. At present we are backing up close to 1,000,000 images and that process forced the creation of multiple catalogs - sports, family, portraits, weddings, landscapes, corporate and I am hopeful this engineering will allow us to import those catalogs into one. Unfortunately, this will not be something I can't test until the Release of LR4 happens in March. Beta version has limitations for doing this.

There is a free Lightroom 4 demo thru Facebook this Friday 9-10 and a second 12-1. If you're a Facebook user and 'like' Lightroom you can access it.
