I live in the middle of nowhere. No camera stores within 100 mile of me. So Ebay and Adorama online are my stores.
I feel the pain. No fun, no feelin the cameras. Bummer.

We have Precision Camera in Austin. They are very good at what they do and their store stays busy. Camera stores are a dying breed, I'm afraid. I have my second home there and my primary home is 300 miles away. We really only have Best Buy. They have a couple of FX cameras and everything else is DX on down. They do not stock FX lenses.
Good that they're there, bad about the FX.

In my area we have Bedfords. Certainly not my favorite but it is all we have. Central Camera is the most amazing store I have been in. I wish we had something similar here.
Central camera is 120 years old. Family owned, Don Flesch, the owner is a friend of mine, I am proud to say. I'm sad that he doesn't sell Olympus, or Sony! Got a lot of top of the line used gear (gently used).
He's about as knowledgable as they come.

You are very lucky. I went in there a few times when I was in Chicago for the national Society for Photographic Education conference. That place is dangerous for my wallet. I nearly walked out with several cameras.
B&H in NYC (35 miles away) and Unique in fair field NJ (5 miles away) There are no local photo stores around here. All have closed down.

I was waiting for you to pop up. Have you gotten the Sony franchise yet?
ASAP Camera and Photo...they are experts....Greenville, NC....
Biznaga
Loc: Witness protection program
None within 150 miles or more from me.
So it is online for my shopping.
So far, I feel lucky to have 2 solid stores in one city is second only to the Big Apple. I do travel and I want to patronize camera stores that are privately owned, small, and want to make a living, so therefore I ask who's got what. I also buy over the phone if people are nice and knowledgable. And I have GAS*.
*GAS = Gear Acquisition Syndrome
I live in the East Bay across from SF. I drive a half hour to the city of Dublin and go to Mike's Camera. From what I have observed they are well stocked and have very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Piepul's Camera in Chicopee MA.
I would like to visit Camera Cottage sometime tho ..

Camera Cottage is OFF LIMITS if you have GAS. :-D
There seems to be one camera store in Pittsburgh. Have not been there, but its web site doesn't offer much. There is also a camera repair that appears to be rated poorly.
I remember going into a camera store in Harrisburg - maybe 15 years ago to buy a certain film that I couldn't get anywhere else locally.
Before that, it was Dodds on Lakeshore Blvd in Cleveland. It had helpful people and loads of Photo candy. But that was 37 years ago.
