The other day I had seen that some one took a long exposure of their Christmas tree which was on a rotating stand. Well, I have one of those rotating stands also. I am very angry with myself because I did not think of it first.

Then I had a flashback. Oops. I meant an epiphany I know it looks like a finger painting from some ones kindergarten class. This is the best I could come up with. What can I say, my brain's fried. I just thought I would share.

Love the photo! It's fun taking long exposures with moving lights or moving the camera while the shutter is open. Nice job! I just wish you had posted earlier so that I could have tried it with our tree. Oh well, Christmas will be here before you know it. Thanks for the photo!
Alton :)

LOL! I did the same thing with the Christmas tree and my in-laws on Christmas day, then my house on the 27th, and then the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago last week. Notice the lights on "My tree" are dotted on the tree and not dotted on the snowflake in the window, that's because the lights on the tree are LED's and are blinking at the 60 cycle line rate, and the snowflake is incandescent lights that don't have time to go out before the voltage is back up (or down I suppose). Interesting isn't it. ;)

It started out like this. It is almost exactly like some one else's post. I did use a tripod. Then I simply enlarged it in cs5 and cropped it.

O.k. So i'm a copycat. I hope it's not plagiarism.

Easy, Deanna. Used tripod, AF, moved the lens out while holding the shutter open. I think my settings were ISO 100, F5.6.
