I have said it before, the only way to beat Putin is by economics. Isolate Russia economically and they will come to terms. Our president, unfortunately has a complete lack of knowledge about international economics and surrounds himself with sycophantic idiots that are not much better. Open up the keystone pipeline and expand our natural gas supply structure so that we can help out Europe if Putin turns off his spigots. Russia's economy is based on oil and gas. If they lose that income they will be in deep doo doo.
I have said it before, the only way to beat Putin ... (

What did Bush do when Russia invaded Georgia in 2008. Any cartoons on that ?

You know what...I may be the only one to think this, but I believe Putin will stop at Crimea. (Not that he wouldn't like to take all of eastern Europe.) Here's why. Crimea should have been with Russia in the first place, this is just a little border re-structuring (extremely painful to the Crimeans, though).
Russia's economy is already in the toilet... they will have sanctions and will need to pump in additional money to Crimea (~$3bn/year vs 2 with Ukraine) they are looking at a BAD year or two.
Ukraine is still supplying power to Crimea, so Russia has to stay on good terms with them at least until Russia builds up the Crimean infrastructure.
Putin is a cold, cunning, calculating man... what Russia gains (as mentioned earlier) is a warm water port.

I think you are correct about Putin stopping at Crimea. Besides, Crimea serves an important strategic point for Russia in the Black Sea region. I strongly doubt Putin is interested in marching into the rest of Ukraine, and the potential headaches an occupation would bring. Although I'm not so sure about it being particularly painful to the Crimeans... the great majority of them seem to be quite content with what has happened.

Plus, the Ukraine will move towards the west and I guess they just signed a deal that is the first step towards joining the EU.

OH? in that case, "Wake up, grow up, or shut up."
Replying in a mature way is simply beyond you, isn't it?
It is all the fault of the expansionist EU.

are you kidding? Obama will probably be in the top 5, along with Carter, Ford and Nixon... but Bush was by far the best.

More fodder from the cartoonists. With Obummer for a subject they just can't miss.
Never have we had a president so devoid in international affairs, economics and managerial experience.
Let's start saying what it looks like and watch their hair catch afire. "If you like Putin better than POTUS you must be a communist!"
