Glossy Ibis in the sun

I am visited daily by a flock of 25 -30 glossy ibis who are cleaning up the left overs under the oak tree. Rarely do i get one in the proper sunlight!

nice shots mdschimdt,of one of my favorite birds. We were in FL for our 2 week annual bird photo shoot about 10 days ago and I don't believe I've ever seen so many Glossy Ibis. I think the population is increasing while the Roseate Spoonbill is dropping fast. About 3 years ago we saw several hundred spoonbills in Myaka State park, this year there was 1. Largest number was about 10 pair in the rookery at Aligator farm. They were just starting to build nests. Again great photos. John Sr

Thank you John Sr! I think maybe the Spoonbills have come my way! I posted some shots a few weeks ago of one who posed for me for about 20 minutes... from about 20 feet away! I am posting one here for you! this weekend at Sawgrass there were some in the swamps ... one flew about 10 feet over my head! Unfortunately, i couldn't get a shot at them.
