I was thinking to buy a 2x teleconverter and I am just wondering if it will work on a nikkor 40mm micro lens, In mean, would the autofocus and the cpu inside the lens communicate the same way to the camera body ?
The one that I have found is the Kenko 2X Teleplus

Check with Kenko and ask them to confirm that the model you are interested in is compatible with your camera. Ask them specifically what you are asking us. If they tell you it will and it doesn't make sure you have the option to return it.

I was just chatting with someone about the 2x converter. I have one and am thinking of getting the 18 - 270 Tamron lens...this info helps me a lot!
Would you be willing to post a picture or too using it? Also any tips on what to do when using it are helpful. I will go go back and read everything I can find on here too. Anyway just wanted to say thanks for your input I was just about to ask about this particular lens! Have a great day!

I'm a total noob here, but have some photo background. Right now I'm using a Canon T3i with my fave lens - the 18-200 Tamron (though if I had the extra $$ I would have waited two months and gotten the 18-270).

This lens does practically everything for me except shots in low light inside without a flash (and for that I use a 50mm 1.8). BUT, to get to my question...

Do you know if I can purchase a 2x teleconverter (Canon or Tamron) that will bump the 18-200 up to 36-400 effective use? AND if so, will the AF motor work at the lower focal length?

I read that it might not function shorter than 90mm or so (which isn't horrid because I'd be buying the teleconverter to get shots at the FAR end).

Thanks so much. You guys are great. Glad I signed up here. Hope I can contribute.
