Was taking some pictures of the landscape when the egret came into view and was lucky enough to be able to get a shot of him. Got a couple of other shots but they were slightly out of focus.

Mahalo for your kind comment. I was going to upload this photo last night with the other but was very late and we had been celebrating our 46 anniversary.

Taken with Nikon D7100, in crop 1.3 mode, IS0 100, 1/320, F7.1

Thank you for your kind comment. I'm learning with my new camera. I thought that I might have to do some adjusting of these pictures as I had mostly a cloudy overcast but shot these as if the sun was out. Had no corrections to make in post processing.

Mahalo. The egret is very graceful. Was surprised as it just rose up out of the sugar cane. I was awestruck at first.

Mahalo. I love taking pictures with my grandkids. They get out with me periodically and we learn from each other. Sure is a whole lot of fun.

Nice capture and composition...the bird appears to be too large and with too much neck for a cattle egret...perhaps it is a great white egret....

Mahalo JB. I am not all that familiar with the egrets. My study shows that the cattle egret was brought to Hawaii in the early 20th century. No others were brought in. Now, the federal government is planning on having open season on them along with the barnyard owl as they are reaping havoc with the local bird species here in Hawaii

Again, thank you for your kind words.
