I was out looking for eagles but wasn't having much success. Now the turkey vulture doesn't even come close to the beauty of a bald eagle but I just had to click the shutter on something. :-) TNmike

Thanks Linda! I think that many of the eagles that winter here have headed back to their northern summer areas. Also many of the resident eagles are sitting on eggs in the nests so just fewer of them flying around. Many of the nests are in trees surrounded by water or on small islands with no access except by boat. Hopefully I will be able to get at least a few eaglet photos from the nests that do have access as they should be hatching anytime. Some may have already hatched but I have been unable to see them yet. TNmike

I have to agree that the vulture is not the most attractive, but when they are soaring they are very graceful, when they are up rarely do you see a flap of the wing, just slight movement in their feathers for directional changes. but I do find them a bit creepy on the ground. Nice catch for the pic.

Now that's something you don't see often at UHH. A well captured moment of an important bird in the environment.

Thanks Puffin!! I agree they seem to be able to soar forever with just the slightest air currents. TNmike

Having grown up in TX, vultures were as common as the road kill they enjoy. You did, however, manage to capture the better-looking end. Nice shot at that, too.
