How many people here believe that any form of reporting CAN be totally objective and balanced, let alone that it ever is?

Cheers,

R.

Its the first thing they teach you in Journalism School.....You ALWAYS report from YOUR bias, which is formed by your socialization and experiences. Even raw feeds from news agencies have to be entered by a person in thier language.

Rocco is on the money. How can reporting be objective when it done by humans, who have their own bias, due to their reaction to their heritage, environment, social status, ambition, personality, and host of other factors call human characteristic, individual needs or wants.

People write from their bias and people read to their bias which to me is more to the point. Most {99.9%} read or at least absorb that which they have already know to be the "truth" - what does not is discarded as bias reporting.
Very few, very seldom search for, or are open to new inforamtion or consider other view points. For example - I believe this to be true - tell me how I am wrong.

What was that? I was paying attention.....
Seriously, I think you're right here. Its good to force ourselves to hear and read and engage people with different opinions than ours....either to validate our "truths" or evolve our basic beliefs. The moment you can at least concede that someone else might have worth, its much harder to be "radical" in your approach.

This is the reason why I tell everyone "I Don't have no stinking brothers". Okay - I do have some that don't smell so good though.

You get a different perspective of the mountain, depending on whether you are at the bottom looking up or the top looking down.

Sure - everything colors one's view, or at least tints it.

I for one would not try to it what is, or not your truth. I have done that once before and learned the lesson that some things are not open to debate in the minds of some.
